Fundraiser Casino Royale Ball – Arundel Lido Project Leap

Clarkes are proud to be working in association with Arundel Lido to help raise in aid of ‘Project Leap’, turning this currently seasonal venue into an all year round leisure facility for the community.

Casino Royale Ball is taking place on Saturday 23rd March and in our opinion is an event not to be missed!  With Chris Smeed our Arundel Branch Manager as your host for the evening you are in for a fun evening of entertainment along with a three course meal, cocktails on arrival, an eight piece band ‘Fantastic Pontastics’ featuring Clarkes Estate’s Negotiator Matthew Coster on Trumpet.  Sleight hand by John Harris and Casino tables add to the theme for the evening.

Show your local Lido support, put your glad rags on (Black tie & Evening dress) and join us.  Tickets are £65.00 per person and can be booked by calling Arundel Lido: 01903 884772 or via email: manager@arundel-lido.com

Housing Market Round Up

From time to time there are lots of short but interesting snippets of news about the housing market. So, we thought it would be helpful to do a short ’round up’ of those that caught our eye in the last week or two. As always, if you would like any advice or information about

Landlord Mortgages get even cheaper – time to re-mortgage?

A sign of the times – with demand for buy-to-let loans significantly down by nearly 19% this year, lenders have responded by cutting rates and offering landlords rock-bottom deals.  The current long term fixed rate and variable rate investor mortgages are the cheapest we have ever seen. Just look at a few examples.  The Leeds

Why put your property on the market in December?

Answer – because it actually makes great sense! If you ask potential sellers when is a good time to put their property on the market, very few will immediately say ‘December’.  However, it is actually a great time to be instructing your estate agent (that’s Clarkes by the way!) and in this blog post we

The Budget – stealth taxes and small print

The budget on Monday seemed quite a low key affair for the housing market, with the main announcements being about personal tax and the NHS – coupled with a long list of small items that were instantly forgettable. However, as usual with modern day politicians, the devil is usually in the detail – hidden away

Electrical Safety in Rented Property

The Government has recently published a report into Electrical Safety in Rented Property which looks as if it will make it a mandatory legal requirement for landlords to have five-yearly electrical safety checks.  What’s more, there is also a recommendation that Residual Current Devices (RCDs), better known as ‘trip switches’ should be a part of

Get the low down on the 'Out Run Cancer' Trail run

Supporting local charities and events is something we love to get involved where possible and we have been supporting Arundel lido for some years now. In September it was our privilege to be a sponsor for ‘Out Run Cancer’ 5k & 10k trail run / walk in Angmering Park Estate which was held on Saturday

Buy-to-Let Interest Rates Tumble

It has certainly been a challenging environment for private landlords and investors in recent years.  The Government has increased stamp duty with its ‘3% surcharge’ on second homes and investments and imposed tightening restrictions on mortgage interest relief for landlords.  A ‘war on landlords’ indeed. The number of new buy-to-let properties being purchased has fallen
